SUBTOPIC: THE TITHE
TEXT: MALACHI 3:8 – 12
Will a man rob God? Yet
ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and
offerings.
Ye are cursed with a
curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes
into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith,
saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour
you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
And I will rebuke the
devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground;
neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the
LORD of hosts.
And all nations shall
call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

was also established in the New Testament church.

INTRODUCTION:
We
are told that when a use of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. When you
don't know it, you'll begin to negotiate with it. Tithing is non-negotiable.
WHAT IS TITHING?
Tithe
is one tenth of all your income; be it in cash, gifts or other material things.
QUESTIONS:
I
know someone is saying:
Q1: “Does
it mean that when someone gives me Five hundred naira (N500) I should pay tithe”?
Answer: YES.
Even if it’s 20 kobo (Twenty kobo) Lev.27:30 – 31
Q2 What if it’s material things?
Answer: YES!
You must pay tithe.
Q3: How?
Answer: Find
out the worth of that material or that item and take the tithe of it.
Q4: What if its food items like a Derica/Paint
of rice or garri?
Answer: My
dear the same thing. Don't eat the tithe of it.
Lev.27:30- 33
And all the tithe of the
land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the
LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD.
And if a man will at all
redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.
And concerning the tithe
of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the
tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
He shall not search
whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at
all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be
redeemed.
You
should know that tithing is now a controversial topic today; on social media
and everywhere. And many lives who subscribed to these controversies are regretting
it today. They are toiling, businesses dying and destinies are been terminated.
The devourer came and took away everything they had because of their silly
mistakes and disobedience to God's ordinances.
They
lack an understanding and don't obey the word of God. You cannot out smart God.
He knows the outcome when you pay your tithes even the devil too and that's why
the devil will come with a deceit to deceive many. John 10:10. When you pay
tithe it put a hedge over your house, business and all that concerns you. Job
1:6-12. Mal. 3:10-11
WHERE DO YOU PAY YOUR TITHES?
This
cannot be over emphasized. God said ……“bring
it to my store house that they might be meat….” Mal.3:10:11, but people are
taking risk thinking they can play or out smart God.
Now
you should know that 10 (Ten) is a number of death. Now God said give me the
death portion, it is holy to me and I will open the windows of heaven upon the
remaining 90% for you and rebuke the devourer for your sake Mal.3:11. He even
ask us “to PROVE Him that is (TEST HIM)
now herewith if He will not open the windows of heaven and pour down a blessing
that you will not have room large enough to receive it”.
Come
on, God is a good God. He knows better. Don't allow any devil to deceive you,
he wants to rob you of the blessing thereof. Devil knows that once he has
successfully caused you to rob God of his portion, you will have no open
blessing and no hedge upon your head, business and family so what will he do?
He’ll strike.
It
is so unfortunate that people will say I won't give my tithe to church; they
are enriching pastors and church. That pastors are the one eating it, using it
to drive big cars and buying houses, living large while members are poor and
suffering.
Permit
me to say this if that's the case then that pastor doesn't have a good
understanding about tithing. And if he does, it’s you and I that make them to
do so if you search deeply. That's another message for another time.
So
they decide to give their tithes to orphanage homes, widows, beggars etc. You
are not obeying God's word and you CANNOT
be blessed. Disobedience is disobedience, half obedience is no obedience. You
are a disobedient child; you are robbing God of his portion. You are a robber.
GIVING TO THE POOR OR ORPHANAGES IS IT
BAD?
No!
I am not saying that giving to the poor and orphanage homes is bad. Of course
it's good. God commanded us to help the poor but not giving God's portion. You
are a wicked fellow for you to give the tithe (deadly) portion to beggars,
orphans etc. You didn't see anything to give them; it was your tithes you gave
them. You are wicked. Don’t forget Jesus also said the poor you will always have
with you. So why doing what is right is a wrong place and at a wrong time? Why?
Those
places or people like beggars you pay your tithes to in the name charity have
no capacity to receive your tithes, the holy portion meant for God but deadly
to us. Ten is the number of dead and God is holy and He is the only one strong
and powerful enough to consume death and give us life because in Him is life
John 1:1-3. But people still choose to use the tithe meant for God to pay their
children's school fees, buy food to cook and eat, pay rent etc. This is risky
and dangerous.
Look
at what God requested from us because we do not have the capacity to use it.
The deadly portions that will destroy our health even the remaining of our
riches and wealth (90%).
DANGERS OF PAYING TITHES AT PLACES NOT
REQUESTED BY GOD:
1. When you pay
your tithes to the widows, get ready to be one soon. I know you you'll say God forbid, NO! You
can't forbid it because you are the one who invited it. It's a devourer. Devil
will hasten it because you have missed it. Widows have no blessing and grace to
bless you with it, God’s kind of blessing He promised us. It is God's store
house (Zion) that can and the blessings will be pronounced via God's servant
the pastor.
So why doing the right thing in a wrong place
and at a wrong time? Correct it first.
2. When you pay
your tithes to orphanage homes, get ready your children are going to go there
anytime soon. There's no God
forbid, you call for it. Lets tell ourselves the bitter truth because you are
an enemy of God and God is the one that will fight you. Who are you to say am
not interested in paying tithes? As a child of God, don't be deceived and be
disobedient to God's commandment.
3.
When you don't pay your tithes but use it for
investment or business, it will crash and no one can resurrect it.
4. When use it
to pay children's school fees, don't be surprised when those same children you
are labouring for will even forget you. A
man once use all his tithes to send his only son to university even when his
pastor confronted him and encouraged him to pay his tithes he refused complaining
that what he has is not even enough to feed the family and send for the child
in school. Few years later the son graduated and on his way coming back home;
he had an accident and he was the only one that died. There was no hedge over
that young man's life. Devourer must take it. Now is God wicked? NO! He is a good
God.
5. And if you
cook food with your tithes, you get
mind o. Men...! You are taking risk. You will "purge"
How
can you use your tithes to eat, send your child to school and pay rent? You
will be given quit notice in a time where you'll be frustrated because you are
an enemy to God and God is the one that will fight you. The Bible says that the
sin of disobedience is equal to the sin of witchcraft (1 Sam.15:23)
KJV
For rebellion is as the sin of
witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast
rejected the word of the Lord,
He hath also rejected thee from being king.”
Refusing to obey is as bad as the
sin of sorcery. Being stubborn and doing what you want is like the sin of
worshiping idols. You refused to obey the Lord’s
command, so he now refuses to accept you as king.”
·Disobedience [Rebellion] is
as bad as the sin of ·sorcery [witchcraft; divination]. ·Pride [Stubbornness;
Arrogance; Presumption; Insubordination] is as bad as ·the sin of
worshiping idols [idolatry]. You have rejected the Lord’s ·command [word]. Now he
rejects you as king.”
To go against what you are told is
like the sin of witchcraft. Not to obey is like the sin of worshiping false
gods. You have turned away from the Word of the Lord. So He has turned away
from you being king.”
Why
can’t you just obey and do what God says rather than arguing with Him? Why can’t
you just follow Him as a fool? Do your part as He has commanded and leave Him
to play His own part.
God
is all knowing. He is older than you; He knows your end from the beginning. Isn’t
it a mystery that givers never lack? Give and it shall be given unto you, good
measure, press down and shaking together and running over shall men give unto thy bosom?
Tithing
is not something you should play with. It’s non-negotiable.
WHAT TITHING IS ALL ABOUT?
1. Tithing is the one tenth of all your incomes.
2. Tithing existed before the law of Moses
Gen.14:18-20, 2Cor.9:6-8. The tithe didn’t come with Moses and didn’t go with
Moses Gen.8:22
3. The tithe didn’t begin as a commandment, it
became as a principle delivered by revelation.
4. Kingdom principles and revelations are
universal in application Mark 13:37
5. Believers are seed of Abraham and commanded to
work in the steps of Abraham Rom.4:12, Gal.3:16, Gen.12:1-3
WHAT ARE THE STEPS ABRAHAM FOLLOWED?
a. Unconditional obedience to God. Gen.12:1 – 4.
b. He believed God by his words. Gen.13:14 – 15.
c. He served the need to the people Gen.14:14,
22:2
d. He looked up to nobody but God. Gen.14:22
e. He held nothing back from God. Gen.22:2
6. Tithing was confirmed and commanded by Jesus
in the New Testament Matt. 23:23
7. Tithe was validated by Paul the Apostle in the
New Testament Heb.7:1 – 4.
8. In the New Testament believer existed before
the tithe Rom.12:1, Prov.23:26, Philp.4:15 – 19
Anyone
that struggle to pay tithe does not know God.
WHY DO WE PAY TITHE?
1. God own both the heavens and the earth and
everything in it. Psalm 24:1, 50:12
2. God owns man’s life, strength and everything
responsible to man’s income Deut.8:18, Acts 17:28.
3. God receive our honour and appreciation
through giving Prov.3:9
WHAT DOES TITHING CONFIRMS?
1. It confirms God’s ownership to all things
2. It confirms man’s stewardship to God
3. It confirms our conquest for mammon
4. It confirms God’s existence in our life
5. It confirms God’s authenticity of our worship

FACTS ABOUT TITHING
1. It belongs to God
2. It is Holy to God but deadly to us
3. It is paid at the place of your spiritual
covering
4. The tithe is meant to be the tithe of all in
the New testament church
WHO CAN RECEIVE MY TITHES?
Your pastor who impart you
spiritually. This alone is a serious
issue. A pastor will labour over a member and when God answers the prayer and
the member breakthrough financially, they change church. One once told my
pastor who labour with him in cold and heat in prayers that his church does not
have the capacity to receive such amount he wanted to pay as tithe. And so he
took it to a bigger church that has the capacity. So do you now see that we are
one making our pastors err due to how we treat them?
BENEFITS OF THE TITHES
1. It grants your access to supernatural supply.
Mal.3:10
2. It opens your heaven for your rain of vision, favour,

3. It gives you divine security and assurance.
4. It establishes your blessing even to the next
generation.
IN CONCLUSION:
Make
up your mind to be a committed tither. And pray God to give you the grace to
pay your tithe in full. Don’t pay tithe from stolen money, hook-up proceeds/prostitution,
Yahoo Yahoo proceeds etc. If you pay, it will become a curse and as a matter of
fact your heaven CANNOT be opened
over a tithe from stolen money. Instead of blessing, you’ll receive a curse.
Finally,
you cannot enjoy God’s blessings if you are a sinner. You have to make change
your ways but it starts by making a decision to repent genuinely. So if you
have made up your mind to enjoy God’s blessings,
Say this short prayer with me with the
whole of your heart:
Dear Lord Jesus I’m very sorry for all the wrongs
I have done.
Come into my heart and be my personal Lord and
Saviour.
Forgive me Lord and wash me thoroughly with
your precious blood.
Cleanse me from all my unrighteousness and remove
my name from the book of hell and write my name in the book of life.
I believe you were born, died and rose for me.
Thank you Lord Jesus for redeeming my
soul in Jesus precious name Amen.
